A New Beginning

On November 18, 2016 Central Synagogue of Nassau County and Reconstructionist Congregation Beth Emeth officially consolidated, following approval from The New York State Supreme Court.  This consolidation will facilitate what is intended to be a unique center for Progressive Judaism, under the direction of Rabbi Marc Gruber and Rabbi Elliot Skiddell. Central Synagogue-Beth Emeth (CSBE) will provide innovative religious, spiritual and cultural programming designed for congregants and community alike. CSBE will continue to reach out to and serve participants from across, Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn and beyond.

The video below tells the story of our congregation's journey as part of the Connected Congregations project, aninitiative of
UJA-Federation with Darim Online.

Friends

Share the welcoming atmosphere at Central Synagogue - Beth Emeth where friends gather together.

There are many paths to finding community here. The synagogue serves as our center, where congregants can choose from a wide range of diverse groups and activities, including Bagel Babies, Youth Groups, Young Families Together, Freebirds, Social Action, Caring Community, Brotherhood, Sisterhood, Yoga, and Continuing Education. We are sustained by our friendships and common interests and we have made this space a spiritual home for our congregational family.

"My husband and I joined Central Synagogue when we moved to Rockville Centre. Our children were young and so we enrolled them in the religious school. All the parents we met that year are still our dear friends all these years later. Through these years, we have shared holidays, b'nai mitzvot, weddings, good times and challenging times. Thank you for bringing us together with these wonderful people." - Barbara L (member since 1975)

"My wife is not from the area and didn't know anyone, other than my family, when we moved here. We both work full time so it hadn't been easy for us to connect socially to the community through the PTA, our kids' schools cub scouts, little league, etc. the Synagogue has truly been 'central' to our Rockville Centre experience." - Dan R (member since 2005)
